Aerial Circumnavigation Record Attempt by James Mattern: June 3-August 3, 1933, Solo Flight cover, carried for the famous philatelist and aviation enthusiast J. P. V. Heinmuller (who was the NAA timekeeper for record flights), the rebuild ”Century of Progress” aircraft started from Floyd Bennett Field (Brooklyn, NY) and reached Jomfruland (Island of Norway) on June 4, after several days of flight over the Soviet Union Mattern made a forced landing in Anadyr (Siberia) on June 14, where aircraft was abandoned. Pilot was rescued by Chukchi and Soviet pilots Sigizmund Levanevsky and Feodor Kukanov, they flown him to Nome (Alaska). Mattern continued flying on July 21 and reached NYC on August 3. The cover franked by two US stamps, signed by Mattern and Heinmuller, bearing pre-printed watches advertisement and seven various markings, minor soiling, still F/VF and extremely rare, only 5 items were carried, Muller #364, 40,000points, Est. $3,000-$4,000
